  1. Do the Community Garden members have a compost pile? And if so, do they accept compostable items from non-member residents? It would be so cool if the residents of Castle Rock had a place to compost so we could keep just a little more trash out of the landfills AND help the gardens grow naturally. Or if there are any plots left for 2019, would composting on a rented plot be acceptable? Thank you!

  2. I'm sorry I didn't respond earlier.

We have plots available for the 2020 growing season.

We do not have a compost pile. There are a couple things to consider:

Having a constant supply of fresh compost is ideal for many community garden sites. However, the garden site should meet a few basic requirements in order host a composting system. Before starting, answer the following questions:
Is there enough space to work with?
Are the gardeners willing to contribute to the compost pile and to help maintain it?
Are there enough materials on site (both brown and green) to have a balanced compost pile?
